The Only Destination

Compassionate Holistic Nourishment

Here are images so far of compassionate nourishment for my body, psyche, spirit, soul as one holistic wad. I've prepared a lifestyle adjustment plan according to what I've learned about my condition lately, which I will describe in detail later on in a different post in the nearish future. For those who might not be sure, I am an Animistic (including Shamanic and very Witchy) Mystic (of a particularly Buddhist and Neo-Platonic / Early Byzantine Christianity flavor) who tends to work primarily (but not exclusively) with aspects of the Sacred Feminine, the more Natural and Wyldish the better suited. I show all the Thomas Moore books I own here in order to explain this specific portion of my reading history. The stack in back I've read at least three times each over the past three years, A Religion of One's Own I just read during the holy days this past week for the first time and LOVED (he even does a great job including Altruistic Atheists, which delighted me), and am now rereading Dark Nights of the Soul for the first time since Winter 2009 - 2010 (which I did at the public library back then, not owning a copy of this one until now). I have purchased all of these books used for a total of less than $15.00, and while I do generally encourage financially supporting the creative and enlightened influences we love most, buying used books in this case made it possible to follow his advice and prioritize enriching my soul while still within my means. Fortunately he's done quite well for himself, and for that I'm very grateful. The two paperbacks in front are the two texts I'm focusing on right now as part of my 'recovery weekend' which is really intended to reroute me from here. I have no doubt that there are underlying reasons for me hitting bottom this weekend and that I need to address my condition differently than I have been at this point accordingly. As awful as yesterday, last night, and this morning were, it was worth it in the sense that I am now reconsidering many aspects of what I've been through, especially over the past few months, and am engaging this opportunity to live with my condition in a potentially much healthier and more life - fulfilling way.


Health Update

Health Update (It's been awhile; Warning: contains some distasteful material)... I've recently mentioned that I've been having a rough time the past few months. I have been in worse decline particularly since the Halloween through Election Week period, of course, because historical levels of stress that do pose impending threats to my personal life (and many of yours) are challenging. HOWEVER, in my attempts to make some minor adjustments this week, I ended up with a major change yesterday morning. Out of abrupt and very uncomfortable necessity I was forced to undergo a rather intense 'detox' (I think that's what the polite Ladies call it). In fact, I needed this WAY more than I had realized. I have lost about 10 pounds in the past 24 hours, feel like I've been ass - raped from the inside (I'm probably not one of the politest of Ladies), and am currently on bed rest and focusing on hydration rather than eating much of anything this weekend. I have become so accustomed to being uncomfortable all the time over the past few months while dealing with recurring ovarian cyst issues combined with my R/RMS 'like' condition (I'm not going to make room for a review - rant on what's happened and NOT happened with my 'health care and coverage' issues right now, but instead simply recall that I'm on my own and that is still better than nothing at all), that I honestly didn't know I was getting THAT blocked up. Nearly all the 'weight' I'd packed on this winter is suddenly gone from this sudden urgent clean out. PLUS I'm not experiencing ANY ovarian cyst issues at the moment and right now is when all that should be really acting up. I am having some nerve pain issues, but everything else has completely shifted for the better. As exhausted and wrung out as I feel right now, I also feel like I'm getting a chance at a fresh start and very much need to come out of this reboot weekend focused and determined to follow through on a better way of self-management. In the past I have actually rather enjoyed periods of self-discipline especially in regards to physical training. I'll need to do things a bit differently now obviously, and while I'm bedridden this weekend I will be devising a plan for this based on what I've been learning about my body lately, especially this week. I need to make this shift truly pivotal for the improvement of my health now if at all possible.

My Robust Risotto

Ok, definitely flirting with the Buddha Bowl but still not quite embracing it lol My Robust Risotto: Cook brown rice until tender. Sauté cremini and/or portabello mushrooms in olive or canola oil with a splash of red wine vinegar and lemon juice, fresh chopped garlic and scallions, Italian herbs (marjoram, thyme, rosemary, sage, savory, oregano, and basil), salt, and pepper. Finish by adding fresh baby spinach and diced tomatoes and allow to simmer in. Serve on rice and sprinkle with Parmesan and Romano cheeses.

My Sautéed Eggplant on Couscous Tabbouleh with Tzatziki

While this is obviously not a proper Buddha Bowl, it is still in proximity, and happens to be one of the tastiest meals I've cooked in a long time. I love Mediterranean cuisines in general, and am very glad I was able to make this particular dish so well...
My Couscous Tabbouleh with Sautéed Eggplant: 'Sweat' the eggplant to prepare it for cooking by chopping off the ends and peeling, then cutting it into ½ to 1 inch cubes, and then spreading these cubes across paper towels and scattering them with salt to let sit for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, cook instant couscous in boiling water (turn off heat) with a hint of salt and canola oil. Once the water is absorbed and the couscous is tender, combine it with fresh chopped parsley, tomatoes, garlic, scallions, celery, and thyme splashed with lemon juice and red wine vinegar. Sauté eggplant cubes in canola oil with Italian herbs (marjoram, thyme, rosemary, sage, savory, oregano, and basil). Serve Sautéed Eggplant on Couscous Tabbouleh topped with Tzatziki sauce.


Buddha Bowls

Friday evening before last my Brother told me about Buddha Bowls. Buddha Bowls are based on the principles of Chinese and Japanese medicinal eating, and include raw or roasted veggies and/or fruit, a whole grain, a protein such as nuts, beans and tofu or sometimes fish or eggs, and a sauce. There's a ton of fun, creative, beautiful, yet simple ways to enjoy this nutrition method, and it can be but is not limited to being gluten free, vegan, etc. I see plenty of Mediterranean cuisine potential here, of course, and more. https://www.facebook.com/mylovelybuddhabowl/

What Abolishing Public Education Would Do To The USA

I feel the need to address one specific issue fully this morning. If it is true that, since Devos has been confirmed, a bill to abolish public education altogether is coming out, then this becomes the most urgent crisis our country currently faces. Regardless of what people think about how public education has been handled so far, it is almost exclusively the primary resource making adults available to work because most working adults are parents who can not afford private childcare. Furthermore, public education is infinitely more valuable than private childcare and private education combined because even in it's currently severely compromised state public education provides standardized basic life skills to everyone regardless of demographic that make it possible for our children to grow up to be capable of working, let alone it being the primary pathway to upper education that sustains all sciences and technologies, including medicine and engineering, as well as other professions, such as law, that collectively hold what's left of our country's infrastructure together at all. What happens when most of our country's population is no longer able to reliably work enough to pay rent or mortgages and basic monthly bills and maintain vehicles, etc. is that most of our country's population is also not able to pay taxes. Our current 'government' doesn't need the citizens of the USA to pay taxes because just our current 'president' alone has enough personal wealth to finance his own position as well as that of the other government employees who support him, and can do so luxuriously for at least the rest of any our lifetimes, and he had bragged about not paying taxes for 18 years prior to becoming our 'president'. He doesn't need or even want our money. Most of us will never earn enough in a lifetime career to even spark his interest. He has more than enough money of his own to take over our government and let the rest of the country weaken to the point of being uneducated and unskilled laborers who have little to no genuine health care at all and are entirely dependent on the mercy of a government that is already rich enough to not even actually need their labor efforts and at no point acknowledged our inherent value as human beings. Our country has reached a point where the perpetration of genocide is genuinely viable from within, and the most obvious and immediate way to achieve that is through the abolition of public education. If this threat is truly in the works now, it needs to be fought as if our lives depend on overturning it, because as a country that is precisely the case. Public education needs to be sustained and developed into it's full amazing potential as one of the all time most important institutions in the world. Just throwing it out destroys our future.

My Po' Girl Gourmet: BBQ Pulled Chicken Thighs served on Roasted Sweet Potatoes

My Po' Girl Gourmet (3rd of 4 recipes this week): BBQ Pulled Chicken Thighs served on Roasted Sweet Potatoes (Chicken thighs cooked on Low in crock pot for 6 to 8 hours immersed in BBQ sauce blended with a half cup of brown sugar and a quarter cup of Worcester sauce. Add a little butter and brown sugar to the sweet potatoes too before adding the pulled chicken to serve. Finally, sprinkle entire plate with fresh orange juice and powdered nutmeg.) This tastes absolutely awesome!

(Note: I forgot to post this yesterday.) My Po' Girl Gourmet (2nd of 4 recipes this week): Simple Stroganoff [Brown ground beef in pan with fresh chopped garlic, scallions, parsley, and thyme, chili powder, and Italian Herbs (rosemary, basil, sage, oregano, marjoram, savory, thyme), then thoroughly stir in 1 can cream of mushroom soup (undiluted) and 1 cup sour cream. Serve on Fettuccine pasta.]

My Po' Girl Gourmet: Cajun Style Béchamel and Tomato 'Red Gravy' Marinara

My Po' Girl Gourmet (1st of 4 recipes this week): Cajun Style Béchamel and Tomato 'Red Gravy' Marinara [Brown ground beef in pan with Worcester sauce fresh chopped garlic, onion, and bell pepper, Italian Herbs (rosemary, basil, sage, oregano, marjoram, savory, thyme), and chili powder. Thoroughly stir in a quarter cup of roux, then 1 cup sour cream, then 1 jar thick chunky tomato sauce, and finally 3 Tb of red wine vinegar.] Served on 'Elbow' Macaroni Pasta. This is Nice 'n' Spicy, very rich, and delicious!
